As Yanukovych was feeling pressure from coup violence, “The White House said Joe Biden, the vice-president, spoke to Viktor Yanukovych on Thursday by telephone and warned him that the US was preparing to sanction officials responsible for the violence”, see hxxps://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/20/ukraine-dead-protesters-police.

In coup prelude, the German and Polish (Radek Sikorski, husband of career-Russia-critic Anne Applebaum) Foreign Ministers were in Kyiv negotiating with the elected government on behalf of the governmental opposition. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Lady Catherine Ashton, had already encouraged anti-Yanukovych demonstrators in the Maidan, as had the State Department’s Victoria Nuland, who gave them snacks. See The 2013-2014 Guardian (UK) online for coup and prelude details.

Post coup, the anti-Russia coup victors began repressing the pro-Russian group, see Time magazine, hxxps://time.com/6144109/russia-ukraine-vladimir-putin-viktor-medvedchuk/. Post coup, Vice President Joe Biden was serving as President Obama’s emissary-representative for Ukraine. He had tried unsuccessfully to persuade Obama into a hard line against Russia in Ukraine, See New York Times, hxxps://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/10/us/politics/joe-biden-ukraine.html, which also states that Biden eventually helped sell Obama on sending about 100 American service members to train Ukraine’s security forces.

Post coup, the CIA began a secret program training the Ukraine military, ending just before the Russian invasion,
according to hxxps://www.aol.com/news/exclusive-secret-cia-training-program-090052594.html. U.S. unprecedented sharing of Russian troop and aircraft movement with Kyiv was behind the Ukrainian resistance to the Russian invasion, see hxxps://www.independent.ie/world-news/europe/unprecedented-sharing-of-crucial-intelligence-by-us-prevented-kyivs-capture-by-russia-41595077.html.
As for Crimea, it was arbitrarily tacked onto Ukraine by Khrushchev in the Soviet era and later carried into independence by Ukraine. Behind all of this, the situation in Ukraine pits independence forces, aided by the U.S. publicly and clandestinely, against pro-Russia forces that want to retain historical ties with Russia. Biden has taken the “couper” side.

I’m just reading your book neck deep and is talking about what the Republicans were planning to do is refute the election in case they got the popular vote but they didn’t. I wish somebody would bring this up in the news again. This thing with Trump was ready to go for George Bush. Anything to get him in there and look what happened

Espionage charges generally have a 10-year statute of limitation. Assange was charged in 2019 for act allegedly committed in 2010, so the US, well aware of this, acted within the permitted time frame.

As journalists looking at the worlds stories, and Annie Machon personal interest in supporting ‘JULIAN ASSANGE CASE of journalistic freedom of the press, may i offer food for thought for those attempting a defense, could it not be argued that ‘Julian has the same right of defense which was afforded to prince Andrew ,being that 1 year of limitation has passed-ended, and therefore he also cannot be held liable or accountable for extradition to face trial, questioning in American courts..?

Can Julian also claim this right for his own..?

I’m a former-libertarian turned Pan-Anarchist ( Pan (prefix)- involving all of a (specified) group or region ….. Anarchism – a political theory holding all forms of governmental authority to be unnecessary and undesirable and advocating a society based on voluntary cooperation and free association of individuals and groups).. Consortium is one of many sources from which I post. That said, I find your articles very valuable.

Your story on how much the British have spent to harrass Assange better argues it’s been a small & smart expenditure. The message has been impossible to ignore: Idealistic do-gooders would do well to reconsider before embarrassing power.
