WATCH: How to Stop a Nuclear War

Dennis Kucinich, Scott Ritter and Medea Benjamin met with citizens in Washington to discuss how they can get Congress to put a roadblock in the path towards nuclear annihilation.

The former Congressman, former chief U.N. weapons inspector and Code Pink leader spoke to an audience at the Tabard Inn in Washington on Saturday evening following an event at the National Press Club that was intended to get citizens to put pressure on Congress to back a resolution that would stop the U.S. transfer of long-range U.S. ATACM missiles to Ukraine.

The U.S. is using the territory of Ukraine to fire these missiles deep into Russia territory. Moscow says that amounts to a direct U.S. strike on Russia, putting the two countries at war. The Kremlin warned that further U.S. escalation could lead to nuclear confrontation.

I don’t know if I trust Ritter. I wonder if he is part of some sort if CoIntelpro, where 90% of what he says is true, but then 10% sounds sensational and his actions like crying and saying he is going to “put the American people in fear” makes people think he’s a little weird, and therefore they will walk away not taking what he says seriously. Maybe Kucinich and Benjamin are sincere, but he is some sort of infiltrator.

2nd paragraph of this post says “The U.S. is using the territory of Ukraine…”
In context it simply means using the area. But this wording also describes the neocons’ ideology–a unipolar empire controlled by the U.S. Anywhere involved in their plans becomes a de facto U.S. territory to be used as they wish. No independence allowed.
Their arrogance reminiscent of the U.S. in Vietnam. And again, they’re willing to destroy a village to “save” it. Or an entire country.

Three capitalist reformers believing that if you just put pressure on a Congress, of, for, and by the wealthy few, whose mute button for the voices of the working class is switched off and whose disconnection from their struggles has been severed by their ruling class donors, they will listen. As Trump’s band of fascist goons are on the march to annihilate our rights, and all three branches of government are under ruling class control, and the mainstream media is an Orwellian nightmare, Benjamin, Ritter, and Kucinich believe appeals to a Congress of quislings and not to the working class about educating themselves to their power to overthrow this rotten capitalist system for a socialism based on human need, is the answer. This begging and pleading will be ignored as it always is by those busy self-preservationists propping up the facade of this capitalist horror show

As long as the US supports Israel, nothing will change.

This video has an excellent bunch of comments, including from the audience. I found Scott’s particularly impactful.

Why are so many Americans unaware of the imminent nuclear threat, and the insane push toward war by the Zionist Neocons? Because of news shows like the PBS Newshour. Night after night they open segments with loaded language that bias the viewer’s thinking toward the war profiteers’ narrative. Then they state conclusions with absolutely no evidence. They omit absolutely crucial contextual information (like the 2014 coup in Ukraine and the government censorship at Twitter). And they insert brazen lies. They use these tactics every night. I don’t believe they are as ignorant as they appear. I think they know they are deceiving their viewers. But they want to keep their jobs. And they are too cowardly to do the right thing.

At some point, because of sites like Consortium News, truth tellers like Scott, Dennis, and Medea (and camera men like Joe) shows like the PBS Newshour will be so widely disgraced, and their staff will be so deeply ashamed, that they will have to reform to survive.

    Thank you all.
